A finely crafted late 19th-century German .800 silver reticulated centerpiece by the renowned Hanau firm of Wolf & Knell. The oval basket features a masterfully executed repoussé and chased "tavern scene" in the center, inspired by 17th-century Dutch genre painting. The body is elegantly pierced with a lattice-and-trellis pattern, bordered by floral garlands, ribbons, and bows. Set within the openwork border are four high-relief profile medallions depicting European cultural masters: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Friedrich Schiller, Peter Paul Rubens, and Ludwig van Beethoven. Stamped with "800" fineness and the manufacturer's workshop marks.
