An imposing pair of late 19th-century patinated bronze ewers, executed in the exuberant Rococo Revival style. Each vessel features a bulbous body intricately cast with high-relief swags of fruit and floral garlands, anchored by acanthus leaf motifs. The elegant, elongated necks rise to flared spouts, flanked by dramatic, scrolled handles. These handles are famously surmounted by finely modeled figures of lions grappling with serpents, a classic allegory of strength. Standing at a monumental 23.5 inches, the pair exhibits a rich, dark chocolate patina with subtle highlights, currently resting on later-associated circular marble bases.
