A pair of large monumental Satsuma earthenware vases, exemplifying the technical virtuosity of the late Meiji era. Each vessel features a cream-colored crackle glaze, elaborately decorated in raised enamels and gilding. The narrative panels depict dignified scenes of imperial courtiers and armored samurai amidst traditional architectural settings and seasonal landscapes. The necks are adorned with intricate brocade patterns and phoenix motifs, symbolizing longevity and grace. These vases represent the "Golden Age" of Japanese export art, showcasing a masterful balance between crowded, rhythmic ornamentation and refined figural storytelling.

Condition Report: Presented in good, stable condition. One vase exhibits a historical repair to the neck involving grey composition filler. Surface wear is present, specifically fading to the gilding on high-relief moriage details and rims, consistent with age.
