NEOCLASSICAL BRONZE DECORATIVE EWER, EUROPE, LATE 19TH CENTURY
Patinated Bronze;

This imposing patinated bronze ewer exemplifies the refined Neoclassical revivalism of the late 19th century. The vessel is cast with a bulbous body featuring a continuous, high-relief frieze of classical putti engaged in a Bacchic procession, framed by lush grapevines and ivy. The elegantly tapered neck is punctuated by beaded bands and foliate collars, rising to a dramatic, flared spout. A highly decorative handle, terminating in a scrolling mask, supports a masterfully cast winged cherub finial in a seated pose. Set upon a pedestal base, the piece exhibits a rich, deep chocolate-brown patina of exceptional quality.
