This fine pair of twin-light candelabra features well-cast patinated bronze putti seated upon naturalistic ormolu mounds. Each figure supports a pair of sweeping, foliate-cast ormolu branches that terminate in elegant urn-form sconces with detailed drip pans. The figures are elevated on square, contrasting marble plinths in a soft tone, which are firmly supported by four robust ormolu paw feet. The striking contrast between the dark patination of the cherubs and the rich gilding of the mounts exemplifies the exceptional decorative craftsmanship typical of nineteenth-century French ateliers.
