MID-CENTURY CUT-GLASS AND SILVER MOUNTED DECANTER, LONDON, c. 1930s - 1950s
Crystal and Sterling Silver; 1789 g
An elegant mid-20th-century glass decanter of rectangular form, produced by the noted London firm Preece & Willicombe. The body is decorated with a sophisticated combination of deep diamond-point cutting and fine intaglio engraving, featuring a prominent sunflower motif with frosted petals and a textured, cross-hatched center. A faceted, circular stopper completes the silhouette, showcasing the high-quality craftsmanship characteristic of traditional British glassmaking from the Wilmington Square workshop.
The piece is fitted with a sterling silver collar; while the maker’s mark is identifiable with effort, the specific date letter and auxiliary hallmarks are heavily faded and illegible.
