An exquisite Late Victorian biscuit barrel of substantial proportions, hallmarked for Birmingham, 1899, by the celebrated silversmiths Hukin & Heath. The piece features a heavy, hand-cut lead crystal body of hexagonal form, intricately decorated with deep diamond and vertical mitre cuts that offer exceptional brilliance. It is surmounted by a polished sterling silver cover, bordered by a delicate gadrooned rim and finished with a charming heart-shaped finial. This marriage of robust crystalline geometry and elegant silverwork exemplifies the high-quality domestic artistry prevalent in England at the turn of the century.
