The baluster body raised on a stepped circular pedestal base, the globular belly cast in high relief with two bird panels within shaped cartouches framed by wave and cloud borders: one depicting a phoenix (hō-ō) with elaborately detailed plumage amid peonies, the other with smaller birds among flowering branches. The waisted neck encircled by a coiling dragon (ryū) in very high relief, surmounted by a wide everted dish-form mouth rim; the shoulders applied with a pair of C-scroll handles with shishi (foo dog) head terminals; rich reddish-brown tone throughout.
