GEORGE V CUT GLASS AND STERLING SILVER MOUNTED DECANTER, SHEFFIELD, 1929
Cut Crystal and Sterling Silver;
Rs. 50,000.00 + GST
This elegant decanter features a heavy, globular body of lead crystal, intricately cut with a primary band of stylized acanthus leaves and palmettes above a deep diamond-cut base. The elongated neck is finished with vertical flute cutting, leading to a hallmarked sterling silver collar. The piece is crowned by a distinctive "thistle" form stopper, which emerges from a silver-mounted foliate calyx, echoing the botanical motifs of the glasswork.
Created by the renowned firm Walker & Hall, this vessel represents the refined transition between Edwardian ornamentalism and the structured geometry of the early Art Deco period.
