EDWARDIAN PIERCED STERLING SILVER EPERGNE, CHESTER, 1908

An exceptional Edwardian sterling silver epergne, hallmarked for Chester, 1908, bearing the distinguished maker’s mark of George Nathan & Ridley Hayes. This centerpiece features a central trumpet-form pedestal that supports a large, flared bowl with intricate pierced trellis-work and a scalloped rim. From the central column, two elegant scrolling arms cast with avian finials, extend to suspend smaller, matching swing-handle sweetmeat baskets.
