Price on Request
A George V sterling silver swing-handled basket, hallmarked London, 1912, by Catchpole & Williams Ltd. The body is of oval form, featuring an intricately pierced gallery composed of vertical slats and repeating scrollwork. The flared rim is finished with a continuous beaded border, a motif mirrored on the spreading collet foot. An articulated swing handle is similarly decorated with openwork geometric piercing. Catchpole & Williams, then located at 510 Oxford Street, held royal warrants as silversmiths to the King, and this piece represents their standard for substantial, neoclassical domestic plate.
