This Late Victorian sterling silver presentation platter features an outer border elegantly detailed with cast foliate scrolls and shells interspersed along an openwork, pierced fretwork gallery. The flat interior surface is intensely flat-chased with a dense, symmetrical expanse of scrolling acanthus leaves, diaper-work reserves, and blooming floral motifs. Centered within this chased ground is a vacant cartouche engraved with a family crest depicting two armored arms holding a wreath through a two-sided spear. The entire structure is elevated upon three scroll-and-bead bracket feet showing exceptional crispness of form.
