The stout ovoid body rising to a flared, broad neck, flanked by a pair of molded dragon-form handles suspending fixed rings. The exterior is richly decorated in raised polychrome enamels and heavy gilding, depicting a continuous narrative scene of learned Rakan (Arhats) with golden halos, engaged in scholarly pursuits and examining scrolls amidst a mountainous landscape. The shoulder and neck are further embellished with dense, overlapping brocade bands incorporating traditional geometric patterns, kikkō motifs, and floral reserves. The vessel is presented on a carved and pierced hardwood stand.
